From Homelessness to Securely Housed — On Two Wheels
When Dave first arrived at We-Cycle, he was experiencing homelessness and facing numerous barriers to housing, including the loss of his identification. Due to a physical disability, walking across Ames all day was painful and impossible.
Our workshop paired Dave with a sturdy refurbished bicycle and cargo trailer. Dave nicknamed it his “work horse.” With reliable transportation, he attended appointments, met his day-to-day needs, and through hard work and resilience, became securely housed. Today, Dave still rides his trusty bike through Ames.

Teaming up with Vikram Bhargava to teach hands-on DIY bicycle maintenance so community members can fix flats and tune brakes.
ISU Student Loaner Fleet
Equipping visiting ISU Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) scholars with bicycles for summer transit around campus.
Shipments to Zambia
Partnered with Working Bikes to ship 45+ bicycles and 20 frames across oceans to communities where need outweighs supply.
